Blue Christmas

Sometimes a holiday came trigger memories and feelings not filled with happiness. It could be traditions no longer available. It could be remembering loved ones no longer with us. Having a place where the joy of the Lord is our strength (Neh 8:10) is what Blue Christmas worship embraces. A place to embrace the blessings of mourning. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. (Mt 5:4) We will have some readings and singing appropriate to the season, recognizing that this is not necessarily a season of happiness yet still a place of God’s joy. We will invite you to meditate on the pain and anguish you may bring, and to offer your pain to the Christ child. We trust that you will find hope and comfort in knowing that you are not alone.
